Junaid Jamshed, pop icon that turned in to a religious preacher, died 2 years ago on this day (7th December 2016) with his second wife, when PIA flight PK661 crashed in Havelian on its way back from Chitral.
Junaid, who had two main sides in his life, was known very well for both. In 1998, Jamshed chose solo musical career as he parted ways with band Vital Signs, in. In 2003, the BBC world service conducted a poll to choose the most popular songs; out of 7000 entries Junaid’s Dil Dil Pakistan was ranked among the top 10 songs, which gave him more success, people starting playing this song everywhere! Be it in car, in stores, on streets, even on 14th August Pakistan Independence Day.
People were and still are crazy over this song, because it has been the most likeable songs till now in Pakistan. Maulana Tariq Jameel was a great mentor for Junaid Jamshed, he helped him promote religion and therefore decided to announce his decision to become a committed Muslim.
Junaid then started to talk on different places about how to achieve personal and spiritual growth. He has also recite a number of Naats and Hamds such as Ilahi Teri Chokhat Per Bhikari, Muhammad Ka Rauza, Nabi Ki Azmat etc.
On his death anniversary, Maulana Tariq Jameel said, “Junaid was a pious person. May Allah Almighty shower countless blessings upon him and give courage to others to follow his footsteps.”
Humayun Jamshed also tweeted for his brother Junaid “Miss you brother. I pray that Allah joins us together again in Jannah. Ameen.”
